I’m Bogáta Timár. I was born in Pécs, Hungary. I spent 2010-2020 in Budapest.

For 4 years, I’ve been living in Estonia. My hopeless enthusiasm for Finno-Ugric languages and working democracies drove me to this corner of the world that I’m wholeheartedly devoted to.

In my day job as a linguist, I nudge corpora and annoy friends with questions. Lately most of the nudging has been about the possessive phrase in Meadow Mari. (I usually do something with Meadow Mari. Or typology.)

When not at work, I’m living and breathing in Finno-Ugric. I’m devoted to sharing fascinating (or depressing) aspects of the Finno-Ugric world, and making these peoples visible, audible, noticeable. I lead the Finno-Ugric youth organization Hõimulõimed and play music in the Uralcore band Kännu Peal Käbi.
